Irish ex-pats and previous Eire-based riders Shane Jackson and Tom Ryan effectively teamed up on Sunday to win the Ecycle Answers Grand Nationwide Hurdle with Andy Win at Sportsbet Sandown Lakeside in Melbourne.
The New Zealand-bred held off Ardakan, the mount of Martin Kelly and educated by way of Ciaron Maher, whilst Embezzler took 3rd at the back of the British-bred runner-up within the 4,200m race.

Talking to Racing.com, Rathangan, Co Wicklow-born Jackson admitted:
“It’s incredible. We received this race remaining 12 months (with Highland Blaze) and to win it once more this 12 months with Andy Win… he’s been a cracking horse, and he made laborious paintings of it; I don’t suppose there’s any jockey, with the exception of Tom Ryan, that may have received on him as of late.
“He appeared long gone up the again, he (Ryan) needed to stay him as much as his process. Perhaps the bottom wasn’t slightly cushy sufficient for him and the others had just a little extra velocity, however geez he’s difficult. What a thrill.”
County Galway rider, Tom Ryan, then went on to finish a double at the card when successful the Ecycle Answers Crisp Chase aboard Sing For Peace.
